Contestants Information
1. Entry fees
No entry fees shall be refunded, regardless of any reasons (e.g. class suspension ordered by the Government of the HKSAR, breach of rules and regulations, absence of competitions due to sickness / personal affairs / school functions, fail to provide the music scores required, etc).
2. Competition time slots
The Organization will decide on the dates and schedule that the classes are to be held. Contestant(s) who failed to show up according to the order on the timetable will be considered as “not in assigned order”. They will only receive comments from the adjudicator(s), and shall be awarded no marks and no certificates.
3. Times of arrival at competition venues
The Organization suggests Contestants to be ready and report to our staff 10 minutes prior the time specified. Once the competition starts, the adjudicator / our staff has the right to refuse any audience (including Contestants) from entering the venue.
4. Documents required for Competition
When attending the competition, Contestants must bring with them the following documents:
a. the Admission Form, AND
b. a photocopy of the Birth Certificate / Hong Kong ID card OR
c. the student card / handbook (with photo)
d. a photocopy of the Music Score (for adjudication use only, will not be returned)
5. The adjudicator(s) has the right to terminate the performance if a Contestant fails to perform an appropriate Own Choice piece, prepare well nor perform up to the required standard.
6. Before the announcement of results, all the audience, including the Contestants, teachers, and parents are not permitted to approach the adjudicator.
7. Except for piano classes, All Contestants must bring along their own musical instruments for the competitions.
8. Music Scores for Competition
It is the responsibility of the Contestants and their accompanists to ensure that the music scores used for competitions are copyrighted edition. Contestants shall be disqualified if they (including accompanists) failed to present the copyrighted edition of the music score at the competition.
9. Awards
The Organization reserves the right not to award part or any prizes / scholarship of each Class if Contestant(s) do not perform up to a sufficiently high standard at the Competition.
10. Rules of Competition Venues
a. All venues shall be opened no earlier than 10 minutes prior to the start of each session. It may be delayed subject to the actual situation.
b. Rearrangement of any setups and facilities is prohibited.
c. Anyone (including Contestants) who causes undue disturbance in competition venues shall be asked to leave the venue or result in disqualification.
d. The use of communication and electronic devices is prohibited. Audio or video recordings and photo-taking (including the verbal comments from adjudicator(s) and the announcement of results) are prohibited during the competition. Anyone who violates this rule will be asked to leave the venue.
e. It is the individual attendees’responsibility to take care of their personal properties. The Organization will not be held responsible for any loss.
f. Since the seating capacity in most venues is very limited, each Contestant with a maximum of one accompanying teacher / parent will be admitted to the sessions / time slots they shall be performing. In accordance with the limitations / requirements of the venue and requests of adjudicator(s), our staff are authorized to take charge of the seating and admission arrangements in the venues. They have right to refuse any Contestants of other time slots from entering the venue.
g. Audiences shall follow the seating arrangements and instructions announced by the Organization. Anyone (including Contestants)who violated the rule shall be asked to leave the venue or result in disqualification.s
h. Non-Contestants under the age of three will not be admitted to all venues. i. The Organization shall not offer parking spaces at any venues.
11. Judging Criteria
Adjudication will be based on the overall performance of the Contestants, including:
♦ Technique – tone color quality, notes accuracy, rhythm accuracy, ease of play, fluency, control, etc
♦ Style and interpretation – stylistic understanding, character, use of tempo, presentation with imagination, conviction, etc
♦ Musicianship – dynamics, phrasing, articulation, musical sense, performance flair, effective communication, etc
♦ Presentation – appropriate performance dress, stagecraft, etc.
The decision of the adjudicator(s) on all artistic matters shall be final.
12. Other key issues to notes
a. The decision of the adjudicator(s) on all artistic related matters shall be final. The justification and decision of the Organization upon all matters / interpretation of the Rules and Regulations, administrative issues and competitions shall be final.
b. To ensure safety and health of the public, any individual sick with infectious disease should not attend any Competitions or activities. Individual(s) with illness shall wear mask before admission to the Competition Venues.
c. In the case of class suspension ordered by the Government of the HKSAR, please refer to the Organization website for updated information and arrangements for affected class(es). Under any circumstances which the Competition must be cancelled, Contestants must comply to rearrangements announce by the Organization for the affected class(es) and entry fees shall not be refunded.
d. Any additional administrative arrangements arose upon additional requests, if accepted, shall be subject to a handling fee. |
