Regulations and Enrollment Method

1. Age Eligibility :

  • • Preparatory Class: Candidates should not be older than 6 years on 1st July 2024;
  • • Except the Performance Class Candidates, all Candidates should not be older than 19 years on 1st July 2024 ;
  • • All the Performance Class Candidates should not be older than 25 years on 1st July 2024;

2. Candidates may enter more than one competition class with different competition pieces. However, separate entry form is required for enrolling each class.

3. Enrollment fee is not refundable nor transferrable under any circumstances, (i.e. being dishonest, being disobedient to the regulation, being sick, infringing copyrights, etc.) However, the enrollment fee is refundable in case of cancellation of competition classes.

4. Candidates must fill in all the necessary information in the enrollment form. In case of neglect of critical information, the enrollment will not be processed.

5. The Organization has the right to arrange any venue for the competition, included but not limited to performance venues under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) .

6. The competition will be held between 20th to 30th of July, 2024. Admission Forms will be issued via email to the Candidates or the representing teachers / guardians.

7. Candidates must obtain the proper copyrights to photocopy any score. Under no circumstances Candidates should use photocopies during the competition.

8. Candidates must perform according to the scores (except fingerings/ bowings) without any amendment or improvisation. Otherwise, adjudicator(s) may adjust the scoring according to the overall performance.

9. Candidates must use the specified editions of pieces. If another edition is used, a copy of the edition should be submitted before the competition.

10. For all Own Choices groups, a copy of music score should be submitted. Otherwise, marks may be affected.

11. If a Candidate cannot provide all necessary information to the Organization before the deadline, the Candidate will be regarded to abandon the participation. The enrollment fee will not be refunded nor transferred.

12. Adjudicator(s) have the rights to terminate the performance if the candidate cannot render a proper performance in a general standard.

13.Candidates must not rearrange pieces for the competition.

14. In case a Candidate performs a piece which is not specified in the enrollment form, adjudicator(s) will only give comments but no scores awarded.

15. 15. The Organization may rearrange, amend and cancel any competition class if necessary.

16. 16. After enrollment, the names of Candidates cannot be changed nor the identities of Candidates be exchanged with each other.

17. After enrollment, if Candidates want to change the competition class or other information, HK$300 will be charged by the Organization for administration. During competition, Candidates must not change the competition class and other information.

18. All absence will be regarded as abandoning the right for competition.

19. Candidates, guardians or studio teachers' signatures are required for all submitted Enrollments. The organization assumed that the date given are correct.

20. The Organization reserves all rights and hold the final decision on cancellation or rearrangements to any class due to insufficient enrollment or unavailability of competition venues.

21. Candidate should enroll to the competition through completion of online application forms or send the hardcopy of the application form by mail. (Please refer to “Enrollment and Payment Methods”).

Arrangement of the competition:

1. There is no need for playing in memory. Candidates may wear performance dress for the competition. (Please refer to "Competition Guidelines" for more details)

2. Listed documents and music scores shall be presented upon registration (Please refer to Item 4 in “Candidates Information”). If the Candidate failed to present complete documents, the registration may not proceed; all paid fees shall not be returned nor transferred.

3. Except piano, All Candidates must bring their own music instruments.

4. All repeat signs shall be omitted; Da Capo (D.C.) and Dal Segno (D.S.) should be observed due to performance time limits and musical integrity by Candidates' choice.

5. Live piano accompaniment is required for all competition pieces except pieces that have been published as unaccompanied works. Candidates must provide their own accompanist. No audio accompaniment will be accepted.

6. Piano accompaniment should be accepted as the sole accompaniment for any competition pieces.

7. During the competition, unauthorized photo-taking and video recording are prohibited. The copyright of all the videos and photos shall belong to the Organization.

8. The Organization has the right and held the final decision to amend the regulation, prizes, or to replace any adjudicator(s). No further notice will be made in case of any changes.

Use of Personal Information
The information filled in the enrollment form will be used in the following ways:

  • competition arrangement;
  • legal proof of the identities and results
  • pedagogic research and analysis
  • informing of news and events related to St. Cecilia Examination and Competitions in HK
